History of Pench National Park
Pench National Park is best described as Tiger Park, located in Southern Part of Madhya Pradesh. It covers 758 sq km area and partially shares a boundary with Maharashtra in the area of 257 sq km which is quite accessible from Madhya Pradesh. Pench National Park is not only mentioned as National park but also as a sanctuary in 1965 then after 10 years in 1975 it declared as National Park. This National Park is divided in two segments in between Priyadarshini National Park and Mowgli Pench Sanctuary that cover 299 sq.km areas. There is buffer area which is in 464 sq.km. The origin of the name Pench is associated with river which flows from North to South. This Pench National Park gives the full vibes of wildlife for visitors. The wildlife scenic beauty was established as Tiger reserve in 1992 and work on Tiger project is in the process. Many artists have covered about this vivid National Park and one of the popular mentions in The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling. Pench National Park won the "Best Management Award" in 2011 as well.
